Oktoberfest originated from Germany when Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen in October, 1810 and held a city-wide royal wedding party for all citizens of Munich. Beer lovers and party-goers have grown to love and support this event since then. The connotation of Oktoberfest has proven its influence all over the world as it has not only been an official festivity for the Germans but has also become a global celebration on different continents, among different cultures.

The Essence of Art – MGM MACAU. Charles Chauderlot Ink Painting Exhibition - Unprecedented Art Exhibition of Forbidden City and Antique Imperial RobesThe Essence of Art – MGM MACAU. Charles Chauderlot Ink Painting Exhibition Unprecedented Art Exhibition of Forbidden City and Antique Imperial Robes
[Macau, September 16, 2011]MGM MACAU is proud to present “The Essence of Art –MGM Macau.Charles Chauderlot Ink Painting Exhibition” from September 30 to October 16 at Grande Praça. Charles Chauderlot is the European artist who was exceptionally invited by the Chinese authorities to paint at the restricted areas in the Forbidden City. This exhibition is the first time that all 81 paintings of Chauderlot’s Forbidden City series are displayed together in China. Along with the paintings, two valuable antique Imperial Costumes from Qing Dynasty will also be exhibited: 200-year-old silk kesi dragon robe of Qing Emperor JiaXin’s queen, and a robe specially designed for court official Hsu Ying Ku’ei (1830 – 1903). Grande Praça will be transformed into a chamber from the Imperial Palace during the exhibition. To further enhance the community’s interest of art, guided tours will be provided at the exhibition daily with the support from Macao Heritage Ambassadors Association.
On his paintings, Chauderlot captured the beauty of different corners of Forbidden City, including Dong Hua Men, an area with restricted access; Bao Yun Lou, home to many treasures kept by Chinese royal court, and the legendary Well of Concubine Zhen. It took Chauderlot more than blending Western principles of perspective with Chinese artistry to breathe life into his paintings – he has climbed up platforms of 18 meters high to acquire the perfect angle and moment for a flawless depiction.
In addition to the exquisite paintings, two antique Imperial Costumes will also be on display. One of the costumes is a delicate, 200-year-old silk kesi dragon robe of Emperor JiaXin’s queen. The other costume was a fabric specially made for Hsu Ying Ku’ei, a court official from Qing dynasty who signed the treaty that leased Lantau Island and other parts of Hong Kong to Britain at the Second Convention of Peking in 1898.
The center of Grande Praça will be transformed into a resemblance of the Forbidden City as replica traditional Chinese portals and walls stand tall within the European plaza. Guests will find themselves instantly taken on a trip to the timeless destination as all 81 paintings are meticulously placed against the walls.
“The Essence of Art –MGM MACAU.Charles Chauderlot Ink Painting Exhibition” takes place on September 30 to October 16, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Art exhibition tours will be provided on September 30 to October 9, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and from October 10 to October 16, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for discerning guests who possess an appreciation for art. The tours, conducted by professionals from Macao Heritage Ambassadors Association, are approximately 25 minutes in length and will be available in Cantonese, Mandarin, as well as English.
For a “taste” of being Chinese royalties, our chefs at Imperial Court Chinese Restaurant have prepared several royal delicacies for a cocktail party on September 29, and will be served at the Chinese Restaurant from September 30 to October 16. The royal specialties include Empress Dowager Cixi‘s favorite, Pastry with Baked Pork and Bamboo Shoots, Dumplings with Steamed Pork Belly and Fennel, Dumplings with Ostrich Meat and Bird Nest, Pancakes with Pan-Fried Beef, Leek and Spring Onion, Pastry with Deep-Fried Chestnut and Yunan Ham, Glutinous Rice Dumplings Filled with Red Bean Paste, Steamed Red Date and Rose Sugar Cake and lastly, Chilled Yellow Pea and Fragrant Osmanthus Pudding.

In addition to being one of MGM’s signature events, MGM Oktoberfest is honored to become an annual festive event in Macau calendar and hopefully it will carry on in future years.
With an open terrace with magnificent ocean panorama, the VISTA II at MGM MACAU is the ideal place to host the 20meter long tent with alfresco setting. It is the excellent venue to stage the sound of oompah, the buzz of jovial merriment and the aroma of sizzling bratwurst with traditional Oktoberfest costumes, tables and benches. MGM’s chefs will prepare series of German delicacies such as Pretzels, roasted pig knuckle, German sausages, etc, and also new dishes that are not seen in previous years of MGM Oktoberfest. Famous Munich beer Löwenbraü will be the official beer at MGM Oktoberfest this year. It has been served in Oktoberfest since 1810 and is one of the 6 permitted breweries at Munich Oktoberfest. Fill up the 1-litre mug with the special Oktoberfest brew or a tamer glass with crispy German Riesling, and get ready to sing and dance the night away as the Högl band from Munich works their magic in the huge marquee.

Oktoberfest originates in Germany from 1810, when Crown Prince Ludwig held a city-wide royal wedding party for all citizens of Munich. Starting from October 14 till 22, the 9-day event runs from 6pm till late everyday and will attract over 5000 guests to join. Series of marketing campaigns will be announced later before the event in October.

MGM MACAU Extravaganza: An exceptional experience of old world culture, exquisite dining and entertainmentMGM MACAU EXTRAVAGANZA: AN EXCEPTIONAL EXPERIENCE OF OLD WORLD CULTURE, EXQUISITE DINING AND ENTERTAINMENT
[Hong Kong and Macau, 21 January 2011] Presented by MGM MACAU and living up to every expectation, the MGM MACAU Extravaganza, an unprecedented ultra-luxurious themed dinner party, was held at the Aux Beaux Arts restaurant on Friday, 21 January 2011. VIP guests and celebrities from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau all gathered at MGM MACAU to enjoy a night of stylish fun and exuberance.
Soiree Aux Beaux Arts The highlight of the evening was a most innovative and exquisite haute cuisine dinner. Set in an early 1900 Brasserie in Paris the guests found them seated within a “musical”, based on the 1920s painting of George Surat named “Sunday in the Park with George”.
Soiree Aux Beaux Arts was conceptualized and choreographed by celebrity event producer Alan Bailey, who is famed for extravaganzas from the Versace Gala Dinner at the Forbidden City, Beijing to the Giorgio Armani Exhibition at Guggenheim Museum USA.
The guests were treated to a night of delightful nostalgia and stimulation of every sense: sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. Imagine Paris of the early 1900s, just before the roaring twenties, French Belle Epoque, the culture, art and lifestyle of the then upper class – all relived in Aux Beaux Arts Brasserie, MGM MACAU. Time brought the attendants back to the Europe of a hundred years ago and for this special evening they all became part of life at a turn of the century brassiere.
The soul of this luxury party was the food. MGM MACAU spared no efforts to make sure the night’s cuisine was crème de la crème. Aux Beaux Arts Brasserie’s Chef Elie Khalife and his team sourced top-grade winter ingredients from Tokyo, Fukuoka, Hokkaido and Tohuku, and whisked up an unconventional and most voguish French haute menu, combining his superb and exquisite French culinary technique and the most prized ingredients from Japan.
From highly prized sea urchin to Akimo monkfish liver (known as the “foie gras of the sea”) and rare blue fin from the Tokyo Tsukiji fish market, the one-of-a-kind culinary journey continued on with the freshest and rarest seafood from Hokkaido including Sakhalin surf clam, Hokkaido sea scallops, king crab legs and black cod, as well as premium grade fruits and vegetables from Iwate, Fukuoka, including the rare “Amaou” strawberries (known as “king of strawberries”). There was also the much sought after Grade 5A Maesawa Beef from Iwate, Japan, specially purchased during an auction in Tokyo and for which a special export licence needed to be obtained. The Maesawa Beef is the ultra luxurious delicacy sold only in Japan and "Maesawa” is the trademarked brand of beef of the Iwate Agricultural Cooperatives.
This delectable tasting menu, specially designed by Chef Elie, will be officially launched at Aux Beaux Arts Brasserie after the MGM MACAU Extravaganza dinner party from January 22 to February 13, 2011 inclusive.
After dinner, the party goers enjoyed an interlude of fun and excitement at the newest VIP room in Macau, the Supreme Lounge, where they played a la Bond in a “Casino Royale” tournament, specially dedicated for the evening. For those who preferred some rhythm and swoon, they continued the party with a once-only evening in the exclusive Lions Bar at MGM MACAU featuring Chris Polanco and his band Azucar Latina, famed for their Latin rhythms and hot jazz. On the same day of the Extravaganza, MGM MACAU also launched an MGM-themed Turbojet, “Golden Lion Jet”. The guests of the party all took this exclusive voyage to MGM MACAU, pampered from the very first step they departed from the ferry terminal in Hong Kong.
Mr. Grant Bowie, President of MGM MACAU said: “We are inspired by the creative concept and choreography of Alan Bailey and our taste buds ignited by Chef Elie’s innovative French-Japan haute menu. I am sure our special guests tonight have enjoyed a most upbeat, fun and chique extravaganza. From now until February 13, all guests are welcomed to come and experience such a culinary enjoyment offered exclusively at MGM MACAU.”

“Dove” Project Shows Love and Ignites Hope
[Macau, July 26, 2010] MGM MACAU organized and sponsored the welcome dinner for “Sichuan Students Macau Experience Journey” group at Grand Ballroom on July 26. Nearly 100 Sichuan beneficiary students in 2008 earthquake met and interacted with their Macau donors who have been offering them educational aid and subsidies.
For relief of Sichuan earthquake in 2008, Youth Committee of Macao Chamber of Commerce, General Association of Chinese Students of Macao and Macao New Chinese Youth Association, with the support of Macau Foundation, jointly initiated the “Macau-Sichuan Youth Education Campaign” and raised charity donations in Macau. With the bountiful donations from various corporations and individuals, over 600 Sichuan students have been benefiting and receiving education in school. And most importantly, their hopes have been re-ignited. The Experience Journey which is organized by Macau-Sichuan Youth Education Campaign, aims to bring 100 victim students to Macau to meet with their respective donators. From July 26 till 29, the students visit a number of tourist spots to experience the culture and society of Macau.
Prior to attending the welcome dinner, the Sichuan student group visited the artistic display in the theme of “The Doves Send Us Love and Ignite Our Hope” at Grande Praça of MGM MACAU. Jointly organized by MGM MACAU, Macau-Sichuan Youth Education Campaign and “Fuho” art association, this “dove” project showcases arrays of vivid dove drawings created by Sichuan victim students, who, after the massive earthquake, demonstrate their passion for life, forge ahead in midst of difficulties, and send their wishes and blessings to those suffering from misfortunes in the world. On the doves that symbolize love and hope, the students express their gratitude for the mercy of Macau community and also encourage all young people in our country to fly strong for a brighter future. The dove drawings will be for charity sale at MOP3,800 each after display, and all proceeds will be donated to Macau-Sichuan Youth Education Campaign for educational development of Sichuan earthquake victims. Over 20 dove drawings were purchased on the welcome dinner, and MGM MACAU purchased 13 drawings.
The Sichuan children were treated to Macanese buffet spread, interesting magic show and Portuguese folk dance performance. Representative of Macau-Sichuan Youth Education Campaign Mr. Tai Wa Hou thanked for all local donors’ generosity and love that enabled Sichuan students to continue learning in school, whereas at the same time re-ignited students’ hopes for a better life. A student representative also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Macau community for their continued support and care that help the children to overcome all hardships.

A clown further lit up the atmosphere by playing tricks with children throughout the night. Some children joined the dove puzzle game and the winners were given a delicate pen presented by Mr. Grant Bowie, President of MGM MACAU.
